The adapter I have confirmed in the truck is the Veepeak OBDCheck BLE+ (about $35). It connects over Bluetooth LE and reads the full Ford PID set the app uses for live data and As-Built config reads.

Any other ELM327-compatible BLE adapter should work: the Vgate iCar Pro BLE, the Viecar VP005 and the OBDLink MX+ among them. I haven't confirmed those myself; they are not ruled out either. Sub-$15 clones often ship counterfeit chips and drop the connection, so avoid those.

Chase Baja talks Bluetooth LE only. A Wi-Fi ELM327, a Bluetooth Classic-only adapter or anything locked to its vendor's own app will never show up in the scan.

Get the Veepeak OBDCheck BLE+ on Amazon, the adapter I confirmed on a 2025 Raptor.

1. Make sure the adapter is plugged into your OBD-II port and the ignition is on (engine on or accessory mode).

2. Open iOS Settings > Bluetooth and forget the adapter if it appears there, then let Chase Baja handle the pairing.

3. Force-close Chase Baja, reopen it and tap Connect from the Dashboard tab.

4. If the adapter has a power LED, confirm it is solid (not blinking) before connecting.

Full support: F-150 Raptor Gen 3 (2021+): live data, Ford As-Built config reads, the applied-mod inspector and per-VIN factory backup and restore.

Live data: F-150 Raptor Gen 1 (2010–2014) and Gen 2 (2017–2020), plus Bronco Raptor and Ranger Raptor. Their mod catalogs are listed but their As-Built addresses have not been confirmed on a real vehicle yet.

One mod write ships today, on the F-150 Raptor Gen 3: switching off the synthetic engine noise, confirmed byte-for-byte on a real truck. Every other mod sits behind a Ford security handshake only licensed tools hold, so for those Chase Baja reads, inspects and backs up your config. It never claims a mod it cannot apply.

It only changes which thresholds and alert ranges the dashboard gauges use. It does not command your truck's actual drive mode or send anything to the vehicle.

Picking a profile (e.g. Baja, Rock Crawl) tightens or relaxes the warning ranges so alerts make sense for how you're driving. Your truck's real drive mode is set from the steering-wheel control as always.

Yes. Module configuration changes carry real risk. Writing the wrong value to a module can corrupt its configuration and, in the worst case, permanently brick that module, which may require dealer reprogramming or replacement. Only apply changes you understand.

Chase Baja reduces that risk: every write is preceded by an automatic per-VIN backup, only validated changes are exposed and you can restore factory values at any time from the Mods tab. But you apply mods at your own risk. See the in-app disclaimer before your first write.

Only when you tell it to and only one mod today: switching off the synthetic engine noise on the F-150 Raptor Gen 3, confirmed on a real truck. Everything else the app reads from your truck's own settings (what Ford calls As-Built) so it can show which community mods are already applied and it saves a per-VIN backup of the factory values before any write.

If you have mods applied elsewhere and are wondering about warranty: the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act generally prevents dealers from voiding a warranty solely because you have made modifications: they must prove the modification caused the problem. A backup taken in Chase Baja gives you the factory values to restore from if you ever need them.

Open the Mods tab and tap Restore on a backup in the Backups card. Chase Baja saves a per-VIN backup before every write and you can take one any time with Back up now. Settings > Data & backup > Export all data puts every backup in one file you can keep off the phone.

Background trip recording requires Always location permission. Go to iOS Settings > Chase Baja > Location and select Always.

Also check that Low Power Mode is off. It aggressively kills background processes.

No. The whole app is free and every feature is unlocked. There's no subscription and nothing is gated behind a purchase.

If you want to support development, you can leave an optional tip from Settings > Support. Tips are voluntary and unlock no features. They earn you a Supporter mark on your exported build posters as a thank-you. You can tip as many times as you like.

Already tipped on another device? Open Settings > Support > Leave a tip and tap Already tipped? Restore to bring your Supporter mark back. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID you used originally.

No. Trip data, OBD readings, VIN and build log stay on your device. Chase Baja has no user accounts and no data is sold to third parties.

The only data that leaves your device: anonymous crash reports to Sentry when the app crashes (no personal data, no VIN, no location), anonymous usage counts through PostHog (which features work, never what's in them), purchase receipts verified through RevenueCat and any feedback you explicitly choose to submit here.
